from his flying those planes. I watched a video of a training exercise where the polot goes through the pre-take off check list in the cockpit. The number of details they had to recall and check before starting was formidable.
I got to see a B-17 take off and fly over me banking left right above at a local air show a few years ago. It was impressive and though Dad is gone it gave me another level of appreciation and admiration for him though he never really even talked about his flying much less boast.
A fine young man in that picture... hard to believe how young those boys really were, especially looking at today's i-generation.

Its fascinating to read how they considered the sure prospect of going to War. Nott a hint of question or reluctance to accept the obligation. Imagine a draft today.
