...I saw the 5th installment of the Fast and Furious franchise with my daughter last night.
I can see why it broke the April weekend opening box office records.
It is really a lot of fun - constant action.
As one reviewer said, they do something really outrageous that makes you say "Wow!" and then they keep it going until you are so amazed you wonder how in the world they pulled it off.
Great popcorn movie.
I'd give it a B (not a great film per se, but a great example of the genre).
Follow Ups:
The good ones? Goldfinger, Dr. No, etc? I saw them at the theater when I was a kid. It was a big deal, lots of dumb stunts, action.
FF reminded me of that. Fun, big, huge stunts.

...more unbelievable stunts and action than Bond, especially early Bond.
there and not on a back lot w/supplied stock footage? Rio's my hometown and if it has enough of it, I'll see it just for that.
and mostly looks it.
This is one of those so bad it's almost good movies. I had diet coke flying out my nose every time they tried to get emotional and serious. The stunts are just plain silly. But that just adds to the laughs. I love the guys falling about 300 feet into water. No worries they were just fine. Tough dudes.
A second unit must have shot a bit in Rio.
Nothing with the actual cast.
...showing the hillside buildings and a couple of the chase scenes could actually be there.
well no, they *were* in Puerto Rico.
unlike most, he actually has some chops. Remember, "Boiler Room?" I thought he'd have a "serious" actor career. Oh well. His muscles typecast him into a modern-day Jeff Chandler.
You would have to say, "no way he can keep up wid da ROCK". But it is Hollyweed.

...really 'roided out.
Not a particularly good look for him.
When that certain actor who wasn't in the previews showed up about 1/3 of the way in, there was a definitie rumble of contentment that went through the audience.
The later fight between the two prominent characters created a palpable "Which action star will win this fight?" feeling, too!
The action sequences weren't bad, but I had a hard time suspending my disbelief regarding the physics of the item in question in the climactic chase scene.
I like the "fast" movies for their sheer joy of action, however, so don't mean any deep criticism of this fun movie.
Note for others: BE SURE TO STAY UNTIL THE END OF THE CREDITS TO SEE THE SET-UP FOR FAST 6!
I'm glad you liked it, too, mkuller!

...and saw the final scene but I only saw a couple of the previous films in the series, so I vaguely recall the two women involved and have no clue who they were.
