brilliant, sophisticated, and intelligent. Quite unprecedented in film are his marriage of brilliant dialogue and understated comic inventiveness. I HIGHLY recommend these two films as good samples of his unequalled comedic film talent.
I know he was a panderer to the Nazi Vichy government during the occupation, but I am unaware of any proof that he harmed anyone. He wasn't tried after the war which seems to exonerate him; however, his career never returned after the war. Be that as it may, his art is of a very high order. To listen to one of his quite obviously ad-lib comedic diatribes is to visit a rarefied state of intelligent humor unknown to others excepting Noel Coward, Oscar Wilde, and perhaps one or two others.

You sure missed the right adjective...Subtile humor dear.
For the rest I can only say it was so. Just mentioning his love live would also be A fun.
Now watch out for Jouvé...
tongued individual I've ever heard, in any language. And the writing is intriguing, intelligent, and Shavian. Highest compliments I can think of.
Well in France comic when you use that word is more in the low range of spirituality...For the rest...And one more for the road, his voice as his intonation where extraordinaire.
I hope you got the original as no translation would and can do.

Yes it is. But do ou understand as much french to understand it all?
He is very spirit-full, and all in finesse.
No no you have to be a frenchman...
familiarity with Spanish and Portuguese? I can read French quite well and I can understand it when "properly" pronounced and not full of slang, as is the case in many of the police/crime films. I looked up a bit of his life in "wikipedia," but it only chronicles a few marriages and nothing "scandalous."
I read his bio. Well like you said while the Nazi´s were in Paris is role was not so glorious but not too bad either.
He had a lot of women...Like every good French, but his love left him for Fresnay ( the actor, Marius among other roles )

Don´t complain no land in the world has such a large choice! You won´t find not much more, but less more in France.

I wonder.
