Fassbinder's Despair. Released for the first time a few weeks ago by Olive Films. OK folks this is the dvd I have been waiting years for, to replace my crappy vhs. Fassbinder at his peak. Dirk Bogarde (can anyone say he is not among the top 5-10 actors of all time?) Michael Ballhaus behind the camera. Screenplay by Tom Stoppard based upon a novel by Nabokov.
Not giving anything else away. Brilliant.

He's been a favorite of mine since I saw the 'Doctor' films when I was a kid.
What was that movie he made about the POW? 'Libel'? Great film, I wish it was on dvd.

And I will say Dirk is a good actor, but certainly not as high as you'd place him. James Mason, however.....
