I wonder how he got the part? Wanted: Actors to go the SE Asian shit-hole country to suffer heat, thirst, plague, and imminent attack of aroused locals. Stay an undetermined amount of time and get paid little to nothing. It will look good on resume.

  My guess is that he probably expected to work a short time, ending up working for months. And I'm sure he got paid really well; not movie star money, but a ton a dough to the rest of the acting world. And he was great in the movie. Win-Win. I'll also bet he was put up in the best hotel(s) in the Philippines.
