The plot:With the economic melt-down governments world-wide are frantic to cut budgets: the CDC and WHO are desperate-- their very survival is at stake.
What do they do?
MEXICAN PIGS INFECTED WITH CHINESE AVIAN FLU CARRIED BY HIV POSITIVE CANADIAN FLIGHT ATTENDENTS, WITH SARS, GET CAUGHT IN A TIME WARP AND END UP IN AN ARMY FIELD HOSPITAL IN SPAIN IN 1917, SURROUNDED BY ANTHRAX.
Yawn.
Soylent Green. Now that's a scary movie.
{full disclosure -- didn't see Contagion -- it sounds so lame, and I know WHO is behind it (psssst ... the CDC!)}

Hands down Andromeda strain, Not the made for TV junk but the one from the late 60"s
CDC were not the bad guys. Being an expert and all on the pharmaceutical industry your opinion, if you actually saw the movie, would be interesting.
For myself, considering it was a big hollywood production, I thought it was a fairly intelligent portrayal of how a worldwide deadly contagion could be spread and the issues involved in identifying and vaccinating against the virus. Wasn't Gone With the Wind or even The Good The Bad and the Ugly, but it was interesting and wrth the $5 matinee price. Light years better than the quip laden Outbreak.
"I'd like to own a squadron of tanks"
Outbreak started off with so much promise.If I were the director I'd end the film after the thermobaric bomb scene.
Better to have a 3 minute great film than a 90 minute predictable bore.
While we're on the subject of Big Bangs -- get a load of why "Amerika is great:
largest bang the world has ever known: (yes, it's Amerikan!)
