Or get by with the provided one?
I have a powerful vintage Marantz receiver 125/w/s powering KLH 5 speakers. The couch shakes when it is appropriate for it to do so.
Also, what a great entertainment to youtube music vids with good sound.

Check out my posted system.
I'm in a 2 channel configuration right now due to space constraints and short term rental situation. The quality of the sound allows for lower volume listening with comprehensible dialog and reference level listening without discomfort when I want to hear all the hard work the sound editors and foley experts put into the soundrack!
Built in TV speakers generally suck.

That gear has very attractive design, very original.
of perhaps 10 hours a day use from the time I took ownersship.
I found that pic of her the other day and thought it was remarkable.. Her kind of beauty can brush the problems from my mind for a moment or two..
Kind of tough being smitten with a woman who's been dead for over 20 years and is as old as my oldest aunt..
FL, FR, C, and some Mythos in ceiling speakers for the rear. These are powered by a Denon 2311CI (105w?). Bass is provided by two 10" subs that are caddy corner to each other, a B&W ASW 750(?) and a Velodyne SPL. These will shake the foundation while at the same time massaging yer heart.I don't know how this system rates in the total scheme of things (Doubtless it's considered mid fi when compared to systems that cost multiples more) but it can play outrageously loud with no distortion.

I have a Nuforce Icon amp driving a pair of Polk R300 speakers, driven by the analog out from the TV. It sounds surprisingly good. Very well balanced with a nice bass response.
Bel Canto eVo2i feeding ESP Bhodrans and a PSB sub.
Rejects of my music system, great for movies though.

Back when I was a little boy, we had a TV with a single 1W 4" speaker...
Did we feel like we were missing something? :)

For "regular" TV I don't really care as much about picture or sound, not as much as for watching a movie (or much more so listening to music).
Upstairs: 50" Samsung plasma. No system at all right now, but we'll eventually hook up the upstairs stereo when I have time.
Downstairs at movie time (rare): 110" Infocus X1 PJ, Maggie 7.1 surround (3.6's bi-amped up front with stereo REL subs, 4 MMG-W surrounds, Velodyne 15" sub, Aragon pre-pro, Sony blue-ray....). The sound is fantastic. The picture is not bad but not great as it's an old-tech X1 PJ (pre-HD). But that's OK until the bulb blows (another 5 years maybe? LOL).
So one can surmise that sound is more important to me.

I have Vero Research/Soundwave Grand Soliloquy Mains (L/R), Vero Dialogue center, Vero Research PS 2.0 surrounds, Energy RVSS rear surrounds, all driven by an Outlaw 970 pre/pro and an Emotiva LPA1 7 channel power amp. For subs I have 2 custom built subs using TC Sounds 15” TC1000 drivers, driven by a DBX BX3 amp along with a Sunfire True sub placed along a side wall to help fill in voids. I also have bass shakers on the seats, driven by a DBX MPA150 amp.
Just your typical simple HT setup.
I must say my TV room speakers are very good, System Audio SA 1750s and the matching center. My two channel room has thier bigger brother, the SA 3070. Good sound really enhances the film viewing experience.
Baba-Booey to you all!
