Watches are a Pandora's Box. lol

I've owned many watches. Various brands. Vintage and modern. I never had the pleasure of owning one from IWC even though I wanted a Portuguese. The first IWC I ever had the pleasure of seeing in person was it's Grand Complication. It had just been released and helped fuel my passion for wristwatches. One that ended with having over 100 mechanical watches in my collection and having owned hundreds through the years. A passion that ended about a decade ago. I sold them all off.

Of all the watches I've ever had the fortune to own, the Omega Speedmaster Professional was my favorite. The Patek Calatrava was my second. The two complimented each other well. If I were to ever get any watches today those would be the two.

The same for me. I just retain some watches, got ridden of many. One of my favourit is a Jaeger Le-Coultre Mark 11- 1948-

I love that one. And my old Rolex...and few more.

  The Reverso duo was my JLC of choice. The IWC Mark 11 was a terrific watch. I never got to pick one up. I once had a Rolex 6694. Boy was that a PITA. The screw down crown made it a chore to wind it daily.

    I have also a Reverso...But the simpest model in gold, with a my Initials...My must loved would be Pasha de Cartier, with the glass back.

      Every Reverso is a good Reverso. Brilliant watch. Alas, I don't have any watches today. None. Again, if I had to choose just one it would be the Speedy Pro. In my opinion it's one of the ten best watches ever produced. I had the 30th Anniversary. But I'd choose one with a display back.
      
      To hear the ticking of a slow-beat mechanical watch is hypnotic. The fast-beat automatics sound great but the hand wound watches are cathartic.

        The French don't have as deep a tradition of watchmaking as the Swiss or Germans.

        I think the English were the first.
        
        But when I wrote the French near Switzerland...
        Now look the list for french watches...Quite a few...

        I don't understand how Breguet is French when it's headquartered and manufactured in Switzerland?

        I try to tell you that the part of France who is near the Swiss are the same people the same industry they share. Look at the time of the French Kings! Magnificent. Don�t forget France was one of the great country for a long time. So where the Turks with their empire. And that for hundreds of years.
