That gives me an excuse to ask this here question on Film forum. Talking about Whitney, of course.I am not too familiar with her singing... what I have heard had left me totally uninterested.
If you have a favorite song of hers, could you post the link? I don't mean this as a tribute, but it if feels that way - it is fine. I am just curious to find out what she was loved for.

Whitney Houston (commonly referred to as "The Voice") had singing in her DNA. She was the daughter of Grammy Award winning singer Cissy Houston and cousin to Dionne ("Do You Know the Way to San Jose") and Dee Dee Warwick.
If she was allowed to sing the kind of gospel and R&B that inspired her to sing in the first place, she might have had a more interesting career. Some producer's (Davis) idea of making her more marketable mucked it up.
