Man,I love this movie.Never pass up a chance to watch it.I'm curious as to whether or not the soundtrack was ever released.I know there is no music but the way electronic composer Oskar Sala manipulated bird sounds to heighten suspense is clever.I have the Westminster Gold lp of work by Oskar Sala/Remi Gassman,BTW.

I think it's the most obstuse of Hitchcock's films. Almost in the vein of THE CABINET OF DOCTOR CALIGARI but not as abstract. The abstraction comes from the actions of the characters and not the set. The almost helter skelter spastic behavior of the actors especially Jessica Tandy on seeing the farmer with his eyes pecked out and her loss of cool, the school children in the classroom singing that pedantic song, Tippi Hedren's insistance of playing practical jokes however logistically awkward their execution might become. A truly great film! Ray

take your time to read that. It will be time!
You don´t know your Hitch at all. He is FULL of symbolism.
Your loss.
"Is that it is based on a true story!"
Well, very loosely based. Part of the reference material Hitchcock used was about an incident in Capitola, Ca. where some birds hit rooftops, and were found dead in the streets, apparently due to shellfish poisoning. There were never any attacks, though.
