Towards the end of this movie the director choose to use Bernard Herrmann's score to Alfred Hitchcocks classic 1958 film 'Vertigo'.WTF?
I'm watching this movie, then all of a sudden I'm thinking, 'HEY, that's BERNARD HERRMANN!' 'Where's Jimmy Stewart, where's Kim Novak?'.
Aside from it being wrong to take other peoples art this was a really poor choice for the movie.
Other than that it's a good film. A little long in the third act, but well worth seeing.

Comet/Dyna combo? I'm thinking of getting one also.
It was either this or one of the Michell Gyro decs (the cheaper one).
I wanted a dust cover, so I got the SOTA.
Very easy to use, sounds great. Looks like a turntable. No glass platter.
I had my last table for ten years, so this is likely the last table I'll ever have.

hope you love it!

Sure, the director says 'it's an homage'.
It's not. He liked this music better than the score his composer wrote so he left it in the movie.
A few bars is an homage.
Six minutes is theft.

do you know about what the Director thought of the original music you say was replaced?
Alien, which was the subject of a Plagarism Suit, ( Which AE Van Vogt won ), is full of uncredited music. Maybe stealing was the order of the day there!

It's not a 'QUOTE'.
It's not an 'HOMAGE'.
It's six and a half uninterrupted minutes of SOMEONE ELSE'S MUSIC.

I'm the one who called it raiders of the lost art.
I'm just taking issue with Sonny Rollins being called the master of something done better by Griffin. Though it is picking straws.

The question is 'would Bernard Herrmann and Alfred Hitchcock' like it?
I'm thinking not.
Yeah, I know there are two points of view on this and arguments can be made for either side of the debate.
But I lean towards respecting the original artists.

That's why Kim Novak took out a full page ad in Variety to protest it.
That's why so many people think it's wrong.
Because 'of course' it's right.

I just played the Opera Nixon in China by John Adams. It is full of quotes from Stravinsky, R. Strauss, Wagner, James Brown, and... Vertigo!...It's part of why it's a great piece, he included references to his many influences.
I didn't know about Kim Novac and the ad, interesting.
I'm sorry you and others are upset by it, but I've said my piece.
And I'm sorry for the Jerk comment, it's undeserved.

WTF, people, everyone knows 'quoting' something. A few bars, a melody line.
THIS IS NOT THAT, GOT IT?

Hurts my eyes.
Don't you have anything else to do?
