AMC has been showing interesting shows that don't often work. Breaking Bad is one of the best things on tv right now (I would pick only Justified and Homeland over it). A couple of years ago, I thought Rubicon was a really good show but it didn't make it. Walking Dead is a frustrating show but a show I have stuck with. It is based upon a comic/graphic novel and has limitations of budget. I think it is worthwhile but would be in the bottom third of the shows I like. The next season is going into a different direction with some new characters and I am looking forward to more frustration. I don't watch Mad Men and I gave up on Hell on Wheels. Sometimes the concept is good but it just doesn't go anywhere.
Follow Ups:
I like BB and really liked Rubicon and I appreciate Mad Men but I think they are cheaping out on the shows I mentioned above...
my two cents...
behind the 3 shows you mentioned. Rubicon never had a chance and it was damned good. Walking Dead is talky but not in a good way. Thank the Lord they killed off Dale. He got wayyyyyyyy too many lines. Still, even with all the talk, we're anticipating the fall season as well as the awesome Homeland.

Oh no.....
I look forward to it in the future.
Also, ditto the shootout at the barn, the zinger with the daughter actually caught me off guard and was a pretty powerful moment.
When Herschel was reflecting on his faith and the state of the world and said, "I can't profess to understand God's plan, Christ promised the resurrection of the dead. I just thought he had something a little different in mind."
That was killer.
The series needs a little more irony and a little less "All My Zombie Children."

As opposed to Dale he flat out won me over. I thought Shootout At The Barn was pretty fn good, especially when that lady's daughter they'd been looking for for weeks came out all zombieized. With Shane dead hopefully there'll be less soap opera and more survival against the odds plotlines.
