Take your doughnut cushion with you. The first two hours can really drag. The last 30 minutes or so really picked up the tempo with excellent action editing between the different time layers as all our protagonists began to come to their life's climax.
Broadbent's life was certainly the most humorous and less tedious of all the stories.
The production is over the top excellent but values and art direction aren't everything. Might be better to wait for cable.
Follow Ups:
...The Mighty Boosh prempts the characters & theme of the movie.
Haven't seen either but I'm partially hooked, already.
Haven't seen it, but I'm thinking of cases like "Lord of the Rings" where even 3 movies wasn't enough. Or "Dune". Or "Prometh ... never mind.
These anthology types never make it onto film very well, especially if one has read the books first.
There is so much to follow and probably needs a comic book distributed in the lobby.
... is it as good as 'Speed Racer'?

Sounds like nothing more than an arbitrary limitation. Why would you want to do that to art?
painting, a symphony, or a building, I'd say something is wrong with all of them.
A work should stand on its own merits and not need a foundation or a buttress.

Comparing books to films (and vice-versa) is a tedious, and usually worthless, exercise.
