Why is it so horrible that Vinny made some bad choices after many years as a movie star (like that never happens in real life), turtle grew up and tried to make a go of business ventures (like that never happens in real life), Johnny actually got a good gig and e actually got married. Ari went through marital problems (like that never happens in real life). All actors stayed in character. The writers took some ballsy chances, but it was all about having fun and bringing something new to the show.

For me it started gettng bad sometime in Season 6 (bad meaning less than the greatness of the previous seasons). What yer calling ballsy writing for me were desperate attempts by those same writers to keep the storyline edgy, interesting, and funny. More of those episodes were below par than above. I just think the show ran its course after 6 seasons. Of course JMHO, YMMV, no intent to demean the show's overall greatness, yada yada yada......
