I rewatched Kubrick's Odyssey and Kubrick's Odyssey II today. These documentaries by Jay Weidner focus on Kubrick's faking the photography for the Apollo missions and his films 2001 and the Shining. I found them to be extremely interesting, insightful and very thoughtful. He examines the hidden messages and meaning in 2001 and the Shining.
Weidner contends that The Shining was Kubrick's way of telling people about his role in the Apollo missions.
If you are a Kubrick fan or a fan of the subject material I give these a very strong recommendation.

Look how the flag moves when it was planted. That movement can only be done in a vacuum. If you look at the vacuum chamber Mythbusters used, you can see the exact same kind of movement for the flag. I care not what you say. There is NOT a vacuum chamber big enough to film the landings, it would have to be hundreds of yards across and able to withstand many tons of pressure, not possible.
We'll have to agree to disagree about global warming until the next global cooling scare comes along
I just watched "The Shining" again with this knowledge fresh in mind. It makes for a much more interesting view.
No way I am going to pay anything to a person who spreads garbage packed as a ” science”.

Who often gets this sort of thing into his posts. Actually, there's Lots of Politics at the Film Asylum. It's good to see Victor and Tin getting along! I finally realized your many jabs are good natured. Continue having fun.
But hey, there is always that chance... how 'bout "In Plane Site" (s), the truther movie?

The common argument that everyone couldn't keep a secret doesn't apply here and it doesn't apply in most places. Very few of the NASA employees would have known if the missions were faked. I believe the photography and video was faked. The argument about the apollo mission is well detailed in the book "One Small Step" by Wisnewski. I summarize it on my blog. I feel he builds a very interesting case.
I'll read your summary, I enjoy science fiction.
That's not a slam, promise. But I do find these kinds of things entertaining.

Who's going to tell him?
You might think so, but he intentionally deviated far from the book to tell his own story. For example, Kubrick drives a yellow VW and passes a wrecked red VW on the road. Steven King had a red VW in the book. Weidner suggests that it was Kubrick's way of telling King that he was wrecking his original version. Room 217 became room 237 (237k miles to the moon), dead daughter changed to twins -- like Gemini (the previous NASA program) etc. I go along with Weidner's assessments, which seem brilliant. (I differ on his opinion on the apollo missions).
The documentaries aren't for everyone, but for a certain crowd, they're great! He gives even juicier details about the shining when speaking in person though.
