I never liked the Silence, always considered it pretentious, with ridiculous, cheap and silly over-the-top acting, unworthy of the caliber of Hopkins... but hey, this was Hollywood, so expunge all traces of subtlety and true thrill, replace by stardom and overblown production... that was the name of the game, and it obviously succeeded at the box office.
But things can always be done better, and it fell on the German director Christian Alvart to do it.
And what a true marvel he produced! His "Antibodies" truly delivers.
The inspiration is clear, but the execution is several notches better, with the result actually being suspenseful, unlike the original.
An excellent thriller.
Follow Ups:
The father-in-law shooting the guy's dog? C'mon. Most ridiculous occurrence in any film I've seen, including Hollywood's, in some time. But it was beaten a few minutes later by the father's almost nonchalance when his son starts a major fire in his sister's room. "Just go to bed, now." That's a response to almost burning down the house in the middle of the night?
Righto!
The "disappearance" of that book and the appearance of poison also was dumb. Cops aren't as stupid as the director seems to think viewers are: they wouldn't have imagined anything else occurred but some sort of guard chicanery.
but the killer's cunning evil was near the top of the scale. Unlike American film, the majority of European film has a nearly identical look as if all art direction and lighting follows the same union plan.

It was pretty faithful to the book so I don't know why the criticism.

I'd rather watch Dexter than Silence of the Lambs. Certain things work better as a series. Silence comes off as a bit of a cartoon. Movies rarely possess the character development, tone, back-story and "depth" of a TV Series.
TV Series have the unfortunate problem of not knowing when to quit.

That film is in my queue, but how about the subject of my post?
If you have not seen it - take a look, I think you will love it!

Always thought there should be a different ending in Manhunter. It was set up so the toothfairy had quit and I wanted the main character to go mad and to take over as a serial killer.

"I'd like to own a squadron of tanks"
Don't recall now, but I so dislike the lead actor Petersen!
