It always makes me jealous when talking to them about the movies. Not only have them access to many more movies than the Netflix seems to offer, but they also watch the films that have not even been released yet.
All the way up to HD format, too... :( Their file exchange system is incredibly developed and large. Eat your heart out, tin, here is Yol in all its original beauty:
I asked one guy who just watched Zero Dark Thirty if that was the movie theater recording - no, he said, these are copied from the DVD's sent to the Academy members.

I had some russians refinish my floors a few years back. They did ok. Communism turns people into cheaters. It's really sad. Too much authority will ruin anyone.
Imagine how boring the internet would be if folks were as civil here as they are in person.

They're called "screeners". Usually the reviewer's 15 yr. old son snatches it after Dad passes out and it's on the internet 20 minutes later...

It may or may not be true, but I heard that discs given to academy members had individual codes imprinted in them to be able to trace in case the movie was pirated.

It's not a Russian file exchange system. If you're really jealous...

Download a BitTorrent client, such as μTorrent . Go to a free public torrent search site, such as or The Pirate Bay or KickAss Torrents or YIFY Torrents .

Then knock yourself out. Should take you about 5-10 minutes to get set up. About another 10 minutes or so to figure out what you're doing.

Basically: Users download very small .torrent files, which are hosted on these search sites and in many (many) forums. These little files reference a set of 'tracker' servers. These trackers don't host the target files, instead, they track the users sending and receiving files. The larger files that are sought, whatever they may be, are broken into many small pieces. While downloading needed pieces from one or more other users, the pieces that a user already has are uploaded to others seeking those pieces.

  The fact is it is much less frequently used here, in my experience. You don't even hear at all about it on this forum, while it is way of life over there. It is also widely used among the Russian immigrants here.
