Bobby Duval: chews scenery w/aplomb; when you look past the tics and grin, there's nothing beneath it; what literally you see is his investiture in the character.
Sam Elliot: a caricature of manly.
Wilford Brimley: crotchety old guy you'd like to push out a window; if you're going to play gruff and wise old fart, it would be best to say something smarter than the average turnip.
There.
I feel much better.
Follow Ups:
John Travolta
Tom Cruise. Only worthwhile movies are Risky Business, and Magnolia.Hate to say it, but he was very impressive in Magnolia.
Who can forget the tagline "RESPECT THE COCK, AND TAME THE C*NT"??

He has won an Oscar just vomiting
It should take more than that
A real bad page for the Oscar
Must be very strongly sponsored ...
But anyway he is in very good company
Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, ... always the same superior and fixed expression
Models maybe ... Actors no
But tastes are tastes

Oh, wait. You said "actor."
Nevermind.

Both play same character in every movie, i.e. not actors, they are clowns. I don't like clowns.
Bruce couldn't stand that guy

I can't stand watching him in anything. Whatever the appeal is, it is lost on me.

Because I can't, for my life, understand why he has been kept making movies. He should have rolled on into some other form of business by now. Insurance? Car salesman? Hair products?
Happy Madison Productions is a big-time Hollywood player. The guy is a genius at securing funding and product placement fees.
Ex: Jack and Jill, budgeted at $79M.
He lives in some outback here in New Mex. In his infrequent public appearances, he confirms that the smug motherfucker persona is real.
A couple years back, he testified to the state legislature to support cockfighting (while the whole world is against it). A reporter stopped him afterward for questions, starting wirh asking him to confirm his name for the taped interview. His response: "look it up in the goddam record", then pushed past, back into wherever it is he holes up.
His behavior on movie sets is reported to be similar, so acting for him ain't acting. It's almost free money. Hate that little shit.

TINEAR! The guy actually thinks: 1) he has a brain, 2) we care about what he has to say.

and Tom fucking Cruise come to mind.
I'll take Robert Duvall over them any day.

Ruined ever scene he was in. It wasn't irritating per se, what irritated was his being cast as an Indian and doing such a howlingly bad job of it.

Both have that stupid grin in every role. Although Costner was pretty good in 'Mr Brooks.'

Aw Your being a bit hard on Duval --in Westerns he fits into the scenery perfectly
Wilfrid Bramley's Sidekick Harry Corbet with that whiny voice is more of a pain.
Annoying for Moi:
Robert Culp--Ugh!
Eddie Albert-- "Im gonna kill you Cooney!"--Jack Palance in Attack-wish he had for real!
James Franco's ill fitting Contact lenses--get Lasik son
Renee Zellweger--more ill fitting contacts?
Basically I try and avoid Flicks with those I don't like

I actually liked him in 1 Hour Photo. Quite a different roll for him. I don't recall if I have seen him in another 'serious' roll.
His film career includes such acclaimed films as Good Morning, Vietnam (1987), Dead Poets Society (1989), Awakenings (1990), The Fisher King (1991), and Good Will Hunting (1997), Mrs. Doubtfire (1993), Jumanji (1995), The Birdcage (1996), Night at the Museum (2006) and Insomnia (2002).

And yes, I had strong dislike for him long before Obama came on stage.

Like Robert Duvall, he can't get you to buy into his role because he keeps sounding like his last one, ... and the one before that, and ....
It's OK if the roles are always near same, like Clint's Dirty Harry or his various shitkickers.
I don't recall exactly how good he was in this, prior to his fame, but I thought it was a great movie and that he was great in it at the time.
BTW, I still like him, but could understand why one may not.

Well--apart from overacting the hell outa the part in Inside Man--he's OK
Carrey is damn sight more irritating when he takes over and trys to go it alone and breaks the Director's leash-ha!
