More brilliance from Woody Allen and a standout performance from Cate Blanchett. Great, if not unusual cast (Louie C.K., Andrew Dice Clay). Dark with superb performances all around. I think Blanchett will get nominated for this one.

...agree completely.
All of the actors were terrific, the dailogue great and the story interesting.
Good soundtrack, too.
I don't think we were meant to sympathize with Blanchette's character - she got what she deserved.
I predict she will win the Oscar.

I felt the same way.

Was I supposed to sympathize with Cate Blanchett's character, Jasmine? That question has been bugging me since I saw it Sunday. No doubt Blanchett really worked the part. What impressed me is that I admired her performance without feeling any sympathy for her character except during one small part of the story.
It was fun to see The Dice Man and Louis C.K. and I was pleasantly surprised to see 2 guys from Boardwalk Empire.
Woody writes neurotic so well and has a feel for all angles of life. This was a good "Woody". Highly recommendable.
the "wet spot"? I do hope so.
Looks like he even has a similar role in Jasmine.
