I mention it because Geoff and Jazz's conversation was awesome to read.
I hope Prometheus 2 can generate as much back and forth!
Ridley Scott 'leaked' a little about Prometheus 1 and 2, so I won't add any spoilers; but they are out there.
Follow Ups:
Maybe the producer, director, and writer(s) could get together and
develop an interesting and coherent story before writing a script
and starting filming ... what a concept!
I think part II will add to the discussion.

the first seemed filled with cliches
nothing new, just ordinary but awesome scale and visuals
I found it refreshingly devoid of cliches. Most sci fi casts the scientists as geniuses. The scientists in Prometheius were idiots.
And where the previous Alien sequels indulged in mindless violence and effects, Prometheus was remarkably paced and restrained.
The build up to the abortion scene was pure genius.

The 1st "prequel" left us asking questions and looking for clarity. It seemed to be a movie about origins. But with some thought one might ask; if not only do we get a peek at the origins of the the alien monster, apparently an engineered organic weapon designed to depopulate entire planets of humanity, but also we begin to wonder if the same "engineers' who designed these "aliens" may also have designed us, humanity. And what was our purpose in their scheme?!.
And once the human species comes to realize this, their true origins, what will they (we) do about it. Perhaps the "sequel to the prequel" will address this.
As gloomy and dark as these movies are, I'm quite certain I will not be able to avoid the next installment. Besides, good science fiction movies are hard to come by.

I will be expecting a twist in the genealogy of everything.

Yeah, I've had a few of those come back up on me.
I think the "Alien" was a mistake on the part of the Engineers, DNA gone wrong.
What to do with them....?
The first was picked apart like it was fodder for med school anatomy. That means there was stuff to be picked apart. Very thought provoking; hope the second builds on it and doesn't just focus on filling in gaps.
But having just said that, I hope some of the gaps arre filled in. Hey, I'm just human. Don't leave me hanging like this. Its cruel.
...I really enjoyed the first - I like films that make me think and beg for deeper analysis.
Can't recall too many lately.
Has the potential to be even better than the first one, considering Rapace and Fassbender were BY FAR the best actors and Shaw and David were BY FAR the most compelling characters--all the dead weight will be gone. And it may uncover more answers than questions though I'd be satisfied if it's purely a visual/symbolic driven film.
