...I am as much a fan of action movies as the next guy so when this film starring Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington came out on video this past week, I thought it would be a good choice (with my wife out of town) since I like both of the stars.
Wrong.
The film is actually terrible - the plot is incoherent, the character's relationships with each other are fuzzy, and the ending is just silly.
Other than a little of the banter between the two leads, there is not much to recommend it.
Follow Ups:
My daughter and I saw it when it came out. We were the only ones in the theater. We laughed at the movie as much as we laughed with it.
Maybe its because our expectations were so low, but we enjoyed it. It reminded us of the Lethal Weapon flicks.
On a scale of terrible, good, very good, excellent... I'd give it a positively rock solid almost good.
;-)

reelsmith's axiom: Its going to be used equipment when I sell it, so it may as well be used equipment when I buy it.
I guess if you start with rotten ingredients you end up with a cake that tastes like shit.

If they are awful, who are great ones? I can see that these 2 may not stretch much beyond their personalities.
I think that William H. Macy is one of the greatest since, even though he's rarely in great movies, he always blends in so that you don't even think of his acting.
...Wahlgerg in The "Fighter"?
Or Washington in "Training Day" or "Flight"?
If the film had been made overseas you would consider it art.
Victor really gets on my nerve after a while…
Just forbid people from having and expressing their views. After all - if Hollywood crap is good enough for you... why would someone else need anything different?
Right?
On the radio today they played a clip... they asked some people random question. One woman was asked: Which country had Adolf Hitler as its leader...
She strained for a long few seconds, then responded: "I think it was Amsterdam?"

On the plane last night, a woman was watching a movie on her iPad.
It was an unfortunate bi-product of our culture - your typical feel-good, stupid to the bone, film where everybody applauds at the end... you know the type.
Of thousands upon thousands of good films out there she just had to download that one. I suspect no one forced her.
Yes... I was annoyed by the presence of that crap in my tight living space.

...seem to have been born annoyed.
Cellphone converstaions ( or the one side we hear )
would too much on a Plane. Imagine half the people talking at once…
I always use earplugs and bring book.
Try to be seated in the middle of a 22-member girl soccer team.
That happened to us on the connecting flight. Made me feel I would rather be watching a sappy American film! :)

...wait till the FCC oks cell phones on planes.
Justifiable homicide...
I would be happy to use it on some of those iPads.

are all texting and NEVER use a phone, unless to speak to parental figures.
.
. . . the fact that this movie was only released in August of this year and now is already out on DVD should have spoke volumes to you.
