If somebody has ideas on how to fight this scam, please let me know.
This corporate greed was one reason I helped to put BB out of business (by not giving them mine). One option would be to open a higher quality competitor. I read in the link below that Redbox is also doing this, so I call dibs on the name Bluebox. We will only offer Blu rays discs, with full audio and video quality.
Update: I called Netflix for the first time, and the person in the States understood why somebody bothering with a blue ray disc might want top quality audio to go along with the 1080p video. It would help if anyone else for whom this is a showstopper would also call them and/or post on the net. I also pay extra for blu ray discs and will request a refund or class action lawsuit for partial fulfillment of this on the part of Netflix.
I have no problem having to buy a disc to get the extras, but to get only part of the movie itself is completely unacceptable to me. Netflix: such practices contributed to Block Buster's demise. This practice will end the loyalty of some customers that you have had for years.

"I'd like to own a squadron of tanks"
But something like buying a hybrid SACD that has only the CD layer is what I call fraud. To me, fraud is not small stuff.
A class action? Really? What court is going to grant class action status?
