Zoe Saldana asks a perfectly sensible question in context of Chris Pratt's description of the town's folk in "Footloose". There is a lot of deadpan, not so tongue-in-cheek humor flying about from Pratt's newly adopted crew from other planets. Quill (Pratt) is actually a thief with strong do-gooder tendencies that come forth just in time to aave his butt.
This is a family-fantastic type film with adult tones. The CGI is excellent and the work on Rockett (Cooper) and Groot (Diesel) is so transparent you would think they were real. Michael Rooker manages to play a galatic redneck which may be a first for the genre. Lee Pace looks a whole lot like Darth Maul and Del Toro does an outstanding homage to Klaus Kinski in the brief time he was on screen.
Not to be confused with Kurosawa or Bergman, this film will entertain and make you giggle and laugh (occasionaly). "Don't call me a thesaurus."
I liked it, you probably won't so stay home and act out on the internet before TPP ends it.
Sequel coming. (No surprises there.)

We have no chance, life as we know it will continue to worsen. The spinning vortex has increased in speed as we go down the drain. Talking Raccoon looking things, what a piece a' turd. Franchise that.

...or just like to complain?
...I saw it and thought it was a lot of fun. Everyone I know who's seen it pretty much agrees. Nothing profound but entertaining and worth the $ and a couple of hours of ones time.
...looks fun.
I saw the IMAX 3D version and appreciated the large format but the 3D was kinda flat and not very involving. The 3D was a post production addition...and it was pretty obvious. I'd recommend saving a few bucks and go for the 2D version on the largest screen you can find. Stay for the credits.

And funniest.

Is Luke Skywalker a super hero?
Is Captain Kirk a super hero?
No. Neither is Peter Quill. He is a comic book character, but not all of those are super hero's.

yes it was an outer space movie, filled with extraordinary beings.
"I am Groot"
That's as deep as I'm going.

CGI was terrific and put to good use (part of the fun)
the characters had enough personality to make you care (a little bit anyway)
Groot especially is pretty cool, I would like to have him on my side
overall a good and rather silly time
