publishes a book in which he claims to be a serial killer that terrorized the area but who stopped 17 years ago. The original detective was seriously wounded in an attempt to arrest him, long ago, and now he is confronted by the spectacle of the murderer not only walking free (Korea, shockingly, had a statute of limitations of 15 years for murder), but becoming very wealthy and famous from his tell-all book. The family members of the many victims also have gathered, seeking to take justice into their own hands.
This is one of the most brilliantly written suspense films you will find. It makes one realize how Hollywood has somehow alienated or fails to employ good writers, anymore.
Sit back with a bowl of popcorn, your favorite beverage, and be highly, highly entertained.

I am not yet done watching it, but it is pure crap, sorry to report.
For some strange, unexplainable reason you lumped it up with New World - but these two share nothing besides the country of origin. One is indeed a fine film, this one is the reason I don't like the Korean movies.

Park Si-hoo, the actor who played the murderer was arrested in 2013 for alleged rape in real life. Most believed he was guilty based on evidence, but the charge was mysteriously dropped, with most believing he paid off the victim.
So... was it that his acting skills were great or did his "dark side" come out in his work?

They tend to be rather primitive in their plots, almost silly, so I added these to my late night queue, to see if they have something fresh indeed.
BTW - what cars do the Korean gangsters drive? As we know, the Japanese Yakuza likes black Toyota Celsior and the Russian bandits are partial to Mercedes 600. :)

At first I fully expected yet another silly Korean crime film, but it is developing rather well. And yes, Genesis it is.
Incredible how much progress that company has made since its appearance on the scene. From el cheapo transportation to fully fledged luxury.
