From Miller and Rodriguez. This installment follows on the trail of 'Sin City' using the same main characters and color palette. Art direction is superb and I found the story more coherent compared to the first. As in the first episode there were several stories running simultaneously but this time they seem more closely related. There are really good performances from Rourke, Alba, Green, Boothe, and Gordon-Levitt. Nobody was really slouching so let's say it was a good job all around. The cast was powerhouse and in every moment you saw faces you recognize. Keep in mind this is "artsy" and not dramatic so adjust you expectations.
Sure, violence is a form of artistic expression in these movies so expect it and look forward to it. You won't see much of Eva Green's face because you will be staring at her ample Tetons for most of her scenes. Somebody has to bare it and she was up for the job. Alba was doing her "stripper" act and even attracted the ghost of Bruce Willis. Even Ga-Ga got her cameo in.
This film is for people who saw the first one and liked it. If you didn't like it then it's adios to the box office.
Follow Ups:
Most of the fun in these movies is the arty cartoon environment.
3D. Good 3D effects in this movie. Also, this time the film does not display criminal perversions as did the original. No children getting hurt this time. What a relief.
Eva Green. This past year I don't think there are too many parts of her anatomy that audiences have not seen.
What was it:
300 - Rise of an Empire. As Artemisia, Green seduces the Greek commander, Themistocles. An athletic sex seen. Good acting, I thought.
...and good female form.Penny Dreadful: Showtime TV series. As Vanessa Ives, Green exhibits a highly disturbed monster within while displaying her magnificent form to the audience. Very good acting, I thought.
Now Sin City, A Dame to Kill For. Another fine acting job. She really does sultry well. And what magnificent female form. Green looks so much better when unwrapped. ;-)What better fun. Slumming, crooked high stakes poker, vicious scheming that leads to killing, hot sex scenes, one averted killing, then more killing, and revenge killing.
I thought the '58(?) 'Vette looked fantastic in that art noir environment. And so did the ultra rare Tucker. The '55 Chevy cop cars must have been cgi. I thought the 'Vette looked real. CGI artists are getting very good.
Did I mention that the 3D was good in this film?. Oh yeah, I think I did.

I liked the first one but for some reason this one left me cold. I just did not care and was waiting for it to end, go figure, I can hardly tell the difference between the two...
I'll have to catch a matinee mid-week fairly soon. I enjoyed the first movie for its arty noir and cartoonish scenery. Although, for me, it is possible to get too much of the evil sewage of human cruelty overflowing the low altitudes of Sin City. I presume the sequel will live up to the sub-human standards of the first. Good for one or two viewings, but --no more-- lest the exposure to it warps my inner sensibilities.-Steve
