From time to time the europeans do something remarkable, and in the endless stream of their mostly boring and silly, but usually well made, industrial-grade bologna, you find a real gem.Such is the case with Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac. I don't know how I stumbled over this masterpiece (I am sure the director's name was the hook), but now I am taking it in slowly, 15-20 minutes at a time, before going to bed.
I showed my wife the episode with two black guys - she started laughing hysterically... I had to switch to Fox News channel to stop it.
Now, the hook has been set, and I have no other choice but finish it, plus find the Part I...
So here I was, thinking that the Dreamers represented the worst case of an impotent old man's wet dream... but I have learned my lesson, and I am now waiting for more euro-studies... one thing for sure, when they say delve, they REALLY mean it!

As the days are going by, my memory of that disaster is becoming warmer. Interestingly enough, it is not sex scenes that keep coming back to my memory.
I can't shake off that magical sensation I experienced every time the Shostakovich's walts played... and I must have heard it hundreds of times... but here it resonated particularly strongly.
The B&W hospital scenes were done simply masterfully.

I felt it was a bit slow but, in its own way, atmospheric. The details of her story were interesting to say the least and her employment by Dafoe the best part of part 2. Much kudos to Stellan for knocking it out of the park despite the script doing something highly predictable with him.As always, hate Shia. He just didn't belong in that cast.
The black brothers were arguing that they "felt each other"? Do I have that right?
PS. It looked like there was some true abuse being meted out on Charlotte and a few bit players. Shocking! Story of O updated.

I bet she will last maybe five minutes, if you start with Part 2.
When it was released, Xfinity had it on demand and I watched both movies back to back...in fact I posted my thoughts on it here...Shi LeBeouf was just so miscast...

demand for it must be astronomical. Most people think it's a serious skin flick.
Apparently, in its original form it was 4 hours long, he had to cut out 2 hours of truly hard porn.
Considering what is still there, I can only imagine what was cut out! :)
Dunst would have been good. Or Chloe Sevigny. I think she's the actress in Brown Rabbit that delivered (…) the oral stimulation to the director/actor… I think it would be fun to have her audition, at least.

...the fact that I once stumbled over a documentary, dealing with the history of sex in the movies. There they mentioned the Bunny and the fact that she at that time was his... I thought it was wife, but might had been girlfriend. I certainly did not write it down, and it had only superficial importance to me, but they made it clear there was a relationship.
