I decided to try it again last night. Until that I only watched it in the store, and didn't like it.
So I put on those goofy, goofy glasses and started going from movie to movie, looking for that Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
Before I thought it was a stupid idea. Not I think it is a TOTALLY stupid idea.
Follow Ups:
The main thing to hammer out is whether the picture should be seen from the top, bottom, right, or left side. I'm for orienting the POV according to the action.
This viewer only watches such gimmickery in the multi-plex.
Avatar being the first. Coming out of the theater I felt like I had been witness to a significant technical event. However, I don't think I've quite seen the equal of that demonstration since.Recently I saw Guardians of the Galaxy in 3d at the Multi-plex. Entertaining to engage the senses this way.

I don't think I'll bother with a so-called 3d TV. In its place see above image. I'll wait for "holographic TV". If/when that comes about, it should be true 3D.

effects match theater ones?
at a theater. No big deal. Wasn't bad. 2D is fine with me. I'll never buy a 3D TV, that's for sure.

We've enjoyed a couple of 3D movies at the Megaplex but that's it.

I am surprised the firms, and some customers, make such big deal about that feature.

Both my TV and my BD player have 3D capability. They are supposedly good at it too. Like you, I've seen demos in the store. Big Whoop.
Since both my wife and I wear glasses, putting on the 3D glasses is at best a royal pain, at worst, not feasible.
I've passed on this.
