...watched two videos this weekend on Comcast On Demand."Babadook" is a new Australian horror film which Rolling Stone gave 3 stars and others have compared to "Let the Right One In", my favorite vampire movie.
I thought the film sucked and was a big waste of time. What are these reviewers thinking?
Maybe I missed the subtleties, but it's mostly a mother becoming more disturbed and her disturbed son emoting and making faces to the camera throughout, as an entity released from a spooky book knocks on the door and terrorizes them.
Then there is the film "Drive" from 2011 with Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan. It's about a film stunt driver who is a hold-up getaway driver specialist in his spare time.
This one is brilliant - kind of an impressionist film, with little dialogue, somewhat like Miami Vice in slow motion in parts with bright colors and action to a stylized techno soundtrack.

I'll be watching 'Babadook' as soon as possible.

...has been acclaimed by the critics. In "A Critical Consensus" it scores below Birdman, and higher than Gone Girl, Foxcatcher, Nightcrawler, Theory of Everything, Interstellar and Rosewater (in that order).
Maybe I missed something or just wasn't in the mood for it.
Can't wait to hear what you think after you see it.
