Exceeded my expectations. Intelligent script, fine performances. It felt real to me. Gleeson is a great actor. The girl that played his daughter was excellent.

It is from the novel, Ham on Rye. James Franco made a half-ass attempt to make the movie based on the novel.

This is a serrating view of a relationship torn asunder by one instantaneous act. A film that Ingmar Bergman would have applauded.
If you see it with a significant other, be prepared for some awkward discussions afterwards.
But by all means don't miss it: the performances are terrific, the writing is spot-on, and the tension is palpable.
Most probably will make a lot of "best" lists for foreign films.
Deservedly so.
