I could never figure it out why people watch Bond movies.About 38 years ago, when I was learning English, I was able to obtain one of the Bond books... I thought - Wow! Now I can read the REAL spy novel!
Soon I started having that strange feeling... what the hell am I reading, and why am I wasting my time on this crap? That book's got to be some practical teenager joke.

...but I thought the few Fleming novels I read were entertaining. I enjoyed the John le Carre novels much more. More serious tone, and maybe a more authentic portrayal of English life during the Cold War. I'm not a student of the Cold War either, so my commentary is uneducated.
You learned some invaluable sayings like You Only Live Twice, Live And Let Die. I was reading the Bond book with this second title and my Mom came over and looked at the title and said, 'Ah, Live and let live. That is the kind of book you should read. Good boy.' I thanked her and took her to the Eye doctor.
Cheers

Based on a true story from the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis, it's riveting.
Thank you for the heads up!
