This 2014 Korean movie takes the prize among the historic war movies. Incredibly well photographed, with whole slew of great actors, beautiful costumes and well orchestrated battle scenes, this is a must see for any history buff.

Depicts the Japanese invasion of 1597. Lotsa sword slashing, cannon fire and blood, but nothing seems gratuitous.

and buckets of blood. I think their commitment to American culture has been a major factor displayed by their craft but with license to be weird, off-base, and bloody if need be. Much better work than the usual Asian fare unless it is a Chinese historical epic.

From what I've seen Asia seems to love 2 hr run times.
