The Alien Engineers "Dancers", in a Jack Campbell "Lost Fleet" science fiction series were so enamored with Duct Tape they wanted to do some serious trading to get a couple boxes of it.

They kept calling it the "Universal Fixing Substance" and none of the human officers could figure out what they were asking for. It took some old Maintenance guys to figure it out.

Great series, by the way.
