Squeamish and offended by violence, racism, and non-pc behavior? Who isn't?
I think this is what he is attempting: the best defense is a good offense. Full speed ahead into the jaws of what bothers you; no turning away; no flinching. Its an inoculation.
By wallowing in it, we come to see how futile, useless, and self-destructive all this is. It becomes comic (or tries to) so that we can see this stupid behavior and be more aware of it.
How effective this technique is in film, probably depends more on the viewer.
Yes, it could be that Q-Tip is simply catering to our need to view and confront our worst fears head-on. So that we might claim a sort of victory over them, having looked at them in a more objective manner - albeit from the safety of our roost in the audience?
It could also be that Q-Tip sees a sure way to turn a profit.
It could also be that Q-Tip is also trying to vent his own feelings of anger and disgust toward the human types that he'd like to see go away forever.
IMO, the above is mostly what the "gory horror" genre in films is mostly about. But, if the above statements are not true then one might be tempted to assume that *gory horror film* FANS are nothing but a bunch of *sublimated murderers and torturers* who get off on seeing that which they don't dare to do for themselves in real life for fear of social rejection and/or retribution.
I thought the movie was decadent and long. I liked the look of it. I'm just not sure I get the message Tarantino is really sending, if he's sending. He loves the Spaghetti Western genre so much, and the existential sh*t just goes over my head. That being said, I had a few laughs, and felt guilty at being violently entertained by it. Guilty like a diabetic eating a creme brûlée. Happy 2016, film fiends. Loved The Revenant and Spotlight, too.

...but it's very intense. Some of the violence is mind boggling, but it's a not a throw away, like a QT movie. Spirituality, and the battle between man and the forces of nature are prominent elements in the drama. Also, prominent is the depiction of the destruction of the indigenous population, i.e.... the Native Americans. Very painful to watch. It will stay with me for a while, and that's saying something for a Hollywood flick. Regards.
what you need. A pop to the cheeks of every black, white, and brown person in America. How did QT leave out our yellow people?
NOT SO MUCH A SPOILER:
This modern film holds the absolute record for using Ni**g*r in dialogue. There was so much self-conscious snickering going on in the theater it was funny. Then Sam Jackson fights back with his white fellatio scenario and the other side of the house started laughing. Not to be left out were the digs on Mexicans but to a much lesser degree. True, the way all the racial slander flew around was in a "theatrical sense" which make it semi-acceptable and showed QT will stop at nothing to make fun and shock everyone in the audience. The tasteless side of QT is that he doesn't know when to stop the gag and let's it go one endlessly.
I enjoyed Kurt Russel, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Goggins the most. Even as entertaining as Sam Jackson is he should be used in small roles and not the central axis of a feature. He is just too much.
QT's main fault, IMO, is that he thinks he's a great dialog writer. Overboard here. (I FELL ASLEEP FOR ABOUT FIFTEEN MINUTES.) 'Basterds' was one thing but the extended, endless dialog here wasn't so amusing.
I think QT bats 50/50 like a lot of pop directors. This is okay if you are well rested and ready to be offended both aurally and visually. I'm sure most rabid QT fans love his extremism and it is certainly on parade here.
No bladder buster allowed.
That's what it is.Or, at the very least, that is what it could be...

Only two more films from him, or so goes the rumour he seems to support.
Talk about contrived! QT is as much a figment of his imagination as any
character or scene he's created.
QT and Donald Trump (once he "quits" again as a politician) can have their
own TV show based on their gigantic egos battling over ... well, it doesn't matter what.

I loved the scene in Django when the Klu Klux Klan was beginning.
Absolutely hilarious bits about the hoods, etc.
...
Yes, its talky but I love the talk in QT's movies. To me the problem was that it plays like a boardroom mystery but there is very little mystery to it. Also, there is a late narrator addition which seems out of place along with an unnecessary flashback. The other big disappointment is that the famous composer really didn't deliver much of a memorable score and music was barely even used.
To me this movie is sort of in the category of Inglourious Bastards. A lot to like but not sure it is one that will looked at in the same light as Kill Bill and QT's best, Pulp Fiction. There is, however, a lot to like in this film as well. Great dialogue and very good actors all the way around. JJL was very good in this as well as always reliable SLJ.

... and not much else. OK, OK - she was pretty good in "Shortcuts" as well...

...for letting me know this isn't one of his better ones.
I'll wait for it to show up on commercial cable TV. If at all.

Laughing...
going back to Pulp Fiction, QT, is not one to make a film about fine/upstanding people...
One reviewer called it "evil". Not sure what she meant. Doubt I'll ever find out.
Evil is not exactly what I look for in a movie. I think I'll pass.
Add that I really don't like Tarantino films in general...
At first, Tarantino seems intent on creating *murderous characters and thrilling plots* that are not so much "dirty" or "indecent" as they are "stripped clean" (as in acid-bath clean, down to the white of the bone) of all decency. So that he might gain access to the fountainhead of our worst fears and most loathsome instincts, I suppose. But really, I feel that Tarantino is even more interested in stoking the fires of his own hatred toward a few chosen types (fascist types, redneck bullies, bigots, cold-hearted, etc...) than he is in telling a good story with picture and sound. He should be paying us an admission fee.So that, one keeps on wishing that Tarantino would take a cue or two from Alfred Hitchcock. The shower scene in "Psycho", for all of its "realism", is an oblique statement. Or again (in the final scene of that same movie), all that Hitchcock needs to completely horrify us is the resonant sound of chainlink on pulley.

You must not have seen Django Unchained. That's evil, too.
Yep. It's a three fucking hour stage play on film, shot in 70mm for no apparent reason. Another self-indulgent, pretentious piece of garbage from Tarantino.
Such a great cast (love Walton Goggins) babbling endless bad dialog and blowing each others' heads off. What a waste. How does something like this even make it into theaters is what I'd like to know.
