...what's your pick?
I think Spotlight will win although Revenant has the most nominations.
Follow Ups:
Great film ...it would be my pick for a true Oscar contender. But, then again, I think Creed should have made the list as well.

...or Straight Out of Compton (which I haven't seen).
But like Lewis Black said - "What the hell were they thinking nominating Mad Max? It's just f**king chase movie."
...should be a serious contender for many of the technical categories for which it has been nominated (cinematography, sound, etc). But, best film? No.

...incredibly realistic depiction of the time and place, intense and amazing film (saw it on a big HD XD screen). The realism reminded me of McCabe and Mrs. Miller from 1971.
My prediction - Dicaprio wins, sound, cinematography (all in natural light), maybe Hardy as supporting and maybe best director and picture.
Spotlight was my favorite but this one was quite an accomplishment and sure to be appreciated by the Hollywood insiders who vote.

cinematography all around. Of course the incredible landscapes helped a great deal...
I do have a few minor quibbles, the film ran too long which made it a bit mind numbing also
spoiler
I felt Leo recovered too quickly from the bear attack and why did he not have a broken back?
these did not stop me from enjoying the overall effect
terrific film imo
...and spoiler...
...He shot his pistol at the Indians twice as he was getting away to jump off the cliff.
But it was a real filmmakers film.
of course as it opens wider due to the publicity I will catch that.
But out of the others, the one I most enjoyed, the one that moved me the most, is Brooklyn. There are positive things to be said about all of those on the list, but Brooklyn caught me up in its simple story.
That would be my BP. Of course, it won't win, but at least it got the nom.
...
The Golden Globes made a separate category called Comedy or Musical and chose Martian as the winner. What a joke.

Sure was nice of the Chinese to help out, but ironic 60 minuets just did a segment on increased corporate espionage after their president shook hands with our president promising to stop.

Leo is not the best actor nor is the film the best either. Something is fishy with 12 nominations.
...Jeremiah Johnson via Leonardo.
The Oscars are a joke.

"E Burres Stigano?"
...I'm going to try to talk my wife in to going to see it this weekend.
Seems like a film you would admire more than like.
it's pretty amazing in terms outdoor winter scenery. The action is choreographed with beauty and there is a lot of very violent action. If you take the story literally, it requires huge suspension of disbelief, but there is an aura of fantasy sort of like a Lord of the Rings, that seems to me not meant to be taken literally. It sets up a languorous pace and goes on for almost 3 hours, but For me at least, it rarely sagged. If you are thinking of taking up winter camping in the Rockies, this will probably dissuade you from that.
A technical masterpiece but, were Tom Hardy playing our protagonist, how much better and emotionally involving would it have been?

Looks like Scott got no love from the academy.

But I've thought the academy was a joke for 35 years.

...what happened to the black actors like Samuel Jackson, Idris Elba, Will Smith in Concussion?
Oscar needs new categories called Black Oscar and such like the Grammy guys have cleverly done. They should give them to the wonderful Black actors of the past who were cruelly snubbed.
