Just what you expected from the trailers materializes on screen. Nearly non-stop action and mayhem with slowed-down moments interjected. Ryan Reynolds seemes to be born to be a smart ass and this movie is a life's dream come true in that regard. I can't even remember if he had any straight lines unless it was with Morena Baccarin. Baccarin, as shown in this flighty film, is a truly, truly beautiful woman--and that is with her clothes on!The plot is straightforward: terminal diagnosis, stranger offers a cure AND super powers, hero goes through torturous trials to bring out his powers, bad guy steels sweetheart, and all must be resolved. And, with much violence and slo-mo acts of destruction our hero prevails.
The film has a some interesting ensemble characters which we will most likely see again.
Being R Rated slightly skews the audience age and may have actually helped it be more cellphone free. Regardless, this deserves a mega bladder buster drink and a bushel barrel of popcorn. Let all the CGI guys sweep you along.
Note: There were a jillion CGI artists in the closing credits AND do not leave until Deadpool says so.

...but yeah, it was entertaining and mostly pretty funny.
It's an interesting commentary on current popular culture that a production such as this is so wildly successful. The showing I saw was a sellout in the largest auditorium of the local multiplex @ 9:15P sat. Age group wasn't skewed as young as I expected so it seems to have a relatively broad appeal...but very definitely not for everybody. I expect the novelty to wear off quickly.
older. In my case 65+ and still growing up.
...read someplace that the target audience was 18-34. At my showing I'd guesstimate18-50+ with many more geezers and females than expected.
The pattern I see in these, Marvel, DC, Hasbro, etc, is that they hit the theaters like a nuclear explosion and are quickly done and gone. More so than other subject matter. Maybe I'm wrong, but if you don't catch these within a week, then you've lost most of your chance for a big screen viewing. They make their megabucks in quick fashion or they don't pay for themselves. It must cost a fortune to just roll the credits at the ends of these.
Just speculation on my part.
Completely ill-informed speculation. The majority of Marvel Entertainment's movies have had extended runs, some of them wildly successful. The Avengers movies alone have done more than $1 billion, not counting rentals. That's with a "b." In other words, what the fuck?
...The opening and closing credits were part of the fun of this one. Most of the audience stayed for the easter egg in the closing credits so word must get around fast.

mostly go for the wit and you should like it
This was his last. Been there did those. Too typecast, too mundane or something.
The guy is the master of smart ass deliveries. He's made a good living with them, usually funny. "Van Wilder" set him up for life in that schtick.
RR is great in anything he performs!
at the box office. Yeah, like it will do badly. After the sequel probably not.
