Mild spoiler here: Part of the film included scenes of a Pawnee Indian nursing a shredded Hugh Glass (DiCaprio) back to enough life for him to carry on. Some Indian dialect was spoken and given subtitles, but it was not Pawnee; it was Inuit Eskimo.Specifically, the lines were recorded of a woman living in Barrow, Alaska, reciting a poem some 27 years earlier. The woman was in Fairbanks AK, seeing the movie, and recognized her own voice and realized that she (and her accompanying son) could understand it.
Somehow that recording found its way into a studio where it was used in the film. Ms. Doreen Nutaaq Simmonds was never notified of the use, nor did she receive any compensation for it.
This 69-year-old woman was in Fairbanks working on her degree from the University of Alaska. Why? She didn't want to wait until she was 100.

I have seen Bear Gryllis, the TV survivor man, carve out the innards of a camel and sleep inside in one of his Man versus Wild episodes. Bear also regularly eats freshly caught fish raw. A bear ate Grizzly Man and his girlfriend and I wonder why DiCaprio was not eaten up. I dont think he would have survived with no antibiotics. Well, Oscar for fantasies.
Cheers

Nyuck, nyuck.
