I hear it does not do well in a house fire.
During this unending saga with our daughter over the last 6+ weeks, I finally got tired of Bacon and Eggs ever morning, so tired, I tried hospital cafeteria grits. I know, there was a 50/50 chance I'd end up in the ER but I couldn't take eggs with my bacon anymore. I'm happy to report that:They aren't Instant grits
They've been cooked at least long enuf to not be gritty, tho they're far from creamy
With the addition of 2 salt packets, 2 black pepper packets, four teaspoons of Smart Balance Oleo, & 3 tore up slices of bacon, they're edible. That was a good clip out of a good movie!

Hope your daughter is doing as well as can be expected.
The best to her, you and your family.
Congrats on finding edible grits in an unlikely setting.

I love cheese grits; have had a few gourmet dishes of them around the way. Went to Waffle House and ordered their's. Bland gray watery grits in a bowl. The waitroid unit yelled out "grits, covered!", and they laid a slice of American pseudo-cheese on top.
