Both words apply to this meeting of the minds in 1970. All things are pure conjecture but oddly entertaining to the boomer crowd. Shannon made no vocal stylings in this film which I guess is good. BUT, Spacey went over the top in Nixon-styling which made him a comical character.
This film wasn't made to be serious and it was loaded with cultural gems and tons of snickers. Not so many laughs, snickers. This is an Amazon thing and that is most noticeable in the peripheral casting. Made on the cheap yet the subject is compelling enough to make one overlook it.
This is an odd popcorn kind of movie. Maybe a Slim Jim and beer movie.
Follow Ups:
I saw the first version of this. Has the same title. The actor playing Elvis had him as an amiable clueless goofball. I liked that film-and I'm an Elvis fan- and it was a surreal experience.
and shake my head in wonder like I did the first time I saw that
picture of them shaking hands, and have every time I've seen it since.
Two powerful, influential icons completely fucked up in their various ways
on their various drugs, on their various trips working towards the same... cause?
How could that NOT be the basis of a snickerful film?
