Looks like a big MISS.
Of course, the BEST '7' movie EVER was the Roger Corman production of 'Battle Beyond The Stars'.
And if you missed the effects / miniatures and such, many of them were revisited in later films.
For those who missed 'The Magnificent 7', One of the stars is common to BOTH.

The Sturges film translated a good deal of that humanity to our western sensibilities via a popular vehicle.
The trailers look like Fuqua may have distanced us further from it.
Hope he didn't lose substance over style.
He's proven before he can offer both.
