We were talking about this a little bit over in Inmate Central. It's on HBO Sunday nights, eight episodes, three have aired so far. John Turturro stars.
Best thing I've seen on TV in the last couple of years.

Did any one notice that James Gandolfini is the executive producer? I wonder how that works.

It can sometimes take years to get a series put together before a single scene is filmed. From what I read, he was involved in getting the pilot made a few years ago, although I think he passed away before the pilot was complete. I think he played the part of Stone, but his scenes were not used when the pilot was re-edited and become episode one.

So i read reviews and one of them said this was HBO atoning for season 2 of true detective.
In any case, it is deeply involving. in one sense, it is a murder mystery, like a million others that come out. But it is top drawer in casting, in details, in music and generally in getting me to wait impatiently for the next installment. It is such a blast from the past to see Omar from the wire. Perfect for his role as they all seem to be.
This and mr. Robot are weekly highlights for r me right now.

If you haven't seen Boardwalk Empire , it was another great series, also with an incredible cast, starting with Steve Buscemi. And Williams as Chalky White . :-)
I watched all of Boardwalk Empire. And until now, I never realized that was the same actor from The Wire. Shows how observant I am. I guess I read an article cluing me in that it was him on this show.
If you have HBO on demand you have to watch their American version of Getti g On. Just great!
