'The Girl on the Train': Bestest Chick Flick Ever . . . .

This is another potential Oscar magnet with its mature, well-developed plot, clever editing, and excellent, up close cinematography. Not to mention pretty people all being rubbed the wrong way.

Blunt plays a delusional, alcoholic divorcee who methodically rides the train into NYC so she can pass her ex's house and another house a few lots away. She imagines the stories of the people she sees and develops a concise narrative of Bennett's marriage and relationship which she projects onto them. She is also obsessed with her ex (Theroux) and the woman who replaced her (Ferguson). Suddenly, Blunt witnesses a strange man kissing Bennett while passing by only to see the news days later that Bennett has disappeared. Blunt's attempts to convey what she is certain of only to be discounted by her raging alcoholism.

This is a top-flight cast that gives earnest and engaging performances that helped to make this a very compelling film. The film is slow but methodical in its woman's point of view.

I liked it: Three thumbs up. Worth a walk-in and I don't care what Tomaters has to say.

Wasn't going to see it because I wasn't too impressed with the book. Maybe.

...the book was good - almost as good as Gone Girl.
