Cumberbach and Swinton were well cast, and did an excellent job in elevating this comic adaptation into a real movie. As good as they are, they are supporting characters to the psychedelic hallucinogenic nature of the story. Reminded me more than once of an LSD adaptation of Through the Looking Glass.
40yrs ago this would have become a midnight movie staple.
I cant wait! Going on a tuesday morning in hopes of being alone in the theater or at least with others that understand why tuesday mornings are the best time to see a movie.
I enjoy and indulge in a little "strange" myself.
I was not disappointed. A different type of story from Marvel. Also it is an origins story. There was interesting character development in the lead role. Top drawer cast. A gripping drama that soon enough morphs into action.I saw it 3d Imax. The 3D was eye popping at times.
CGI = top drawer. The budget must have been very large for this one. Cumberbach was well cast for the role; a neurosurgeon turned wizard. Well at least he didn't go into politics;^)
Is it psychedelic....? Yes but we're not talking Timothy Leary asking us to turn on, tune in and drop out. We are compelled into high stakes action.
No spoilers but I will say this; like every other Marvel movie, this one is also an action flick and in that respect formulaic....but with an emphasis on the metaphysical.

The script, the characters, and the action was over the top with goodness. The CGI was the most inventive I've seen. Somebody in CGI has done some serious amounts of LSD-25.
This is the ultimate popcorn flick and it so delivers. Cumberbun played the humor just right and Swinton was note perfect. I may swing back by to see if I may have missed a hallucination or two.
...it was well done and a very nice enhancement to the visual psychedelia...unless of course you already have.
My 10 year old grandson is seeing it now. Not my cup of tea.

...First third was pretty engaging and deceived me into thinking it was really going somewhere. Last 2/3 was a typical and too common superhero flick.
The infinite permutations and combinations of marvel character interactions has gotten really tiresome as seen in the now requisite teaser in the end credits. Really pretty and imaginative CGI however and maybe worth a viewing for that alone.

I saw it yesterday and it is a great movie.
I do it all in the name of music!!!
...looks positively psychedelic.
