Jones' works in the series show a deep cynicism about humanity.

And, an even deeper disdain for people, especially NCO's and Orificers, who don't measure up.

For fellow Privates, who eventually fail, he has much more compassion.

I was rivetted by the series, when I first read them. Enjoy would not be an appropriate term.
