A miniseries of JK Rowling's (pen name Galbraith) contemporary British detective stories. A refreshing change from other Brit mysteries. Less stiff and stodgy, but still convoluted enough to keep you in it. Strike is a war vet amputee and former army investigator, played by Tom Burke. The physical and psychological scars are dealt with as he pieces together murders that the police can't handle. An understated presence until near the end, when you realize that nothing has passed him by. A little Poirot-ish like that. The last series, "The Silkworm" was Rowling's brilliant takedown of the publishing industry.

Other than Strike being less corse/rough and the girl being more round-cheeked (per my mind's eye from the novels) it's very entertaining.
My only gripe is the constantly recurring "theme" music, which puts me off.
Have the same problem with the Jesse Stone series (Magnum PI) as the ever-present theme music is irritating.
We are on Direct TV and if you blinked you missed recording the whole series as I don't see any future playings.
Fortunately, I think I recorded them all.
