The tragic story of Mary Stuart who came home to Scotland and was immediately beset by intrigue. She could trust no one, not her brother, her husband, her counselors, or her cousin Elizabeth.
Nicely written and beautifully filmed Saoirse Ronan absolutely shined as Mary. Not only as a confident actress but as a blossoming beauty in her own right. Her Mary was assured and royal until the very end. Unfortunately, Margot Robbie's talent seems to lie with Harley Quinn and her beauty too racy for Queen Elizabeth. I'm puzzled at her choice for QER.
The film and art direction was spot on and one feels a bit more educated about the intrigues of the 1560s.
4.5 wonks for Ronan and a nicely told story
2 wanks for UN casting out of place in the 1560s.

...never actually met.
Sounds like a good historical reimagining, though.
But I was surprised to see that Abe Lincoln fought vampires.
And I was surprised to see in "Holmes and Watson" that Queen Victoria was the subject of a bomb plot while she was attending a reception aboard the Titanic.
The Titanic made her maiden voyage in April, 1912. Queen Victoria died in 1901.
But then it's only a movie. And a bad one at that.

Great beauties are born in the Bronx, New York.
