Due to some weird financial business my 1080p TV Samsung 5687 may have to go in the bedroom, which to me means no HD. Therefore, My Panansonic 53x54 which is only 1080i will have to go in in the HT to be hooked up to the HD Toshiba A20. From 12 feet way is there much difference? BTW, the Panasonic CRT gets the best flesh tones of any TV I have ever seen. TIA

between the two however, if you are sports or fast action movie fanatics the 1080p may suit your taste, as the overall picture quality seems to be smoother with less pixilation and stair casing effects. Again, the overall video quality is entirely dependent on the dvdp/cable provider that you are using with it, as the saying goes WYSIWYG.
BTW, CRT is still king in terms of the overall video quality is just that it is old technology and where’s the fun in that I can attest to it as my 3 year-old Toshiba 57” HD CRT PRTV is setting idle at the bottom on our basement’s staircase.
Many displays only do 720 or 1080i. On those I wouldn't count on much of a difference between 1080i and 1080p.

in which it can only do 720p and 1080i that I am using for my usual HD cable viewing. However, I have seen some 60” plasma video display between 1080p and 1080i via HD cable or HD/BD in my local Best Buy store to which I have stated the difference that I have seen in my post above.
