Advice on video selector please...

Hi, I usually hang out over in Vintage and Vinyl, but I have a question for you Video folks.

I have a regular Sony 32" tv, nothing fancy. We have a dvd player, a PS2, a Dreamcast, a Wii, and who knows what other kind of video game equipment (my "home theater" is a big old Marantz receiver and a couple of bigger and older Bozak speakers).

The kids are always plugging and unplugging things, and when I go to play a simple dvd I find it to be disconnected. This does not make Dad very happy.

Could you please offer any suggestions or recommendations for a good quality switching device that will let me plug everything into one box and then select which input to watch at any time. Is there any loss of picture or audio quality with these devices?

I needed to switch between component inputs and optical audio, and chose Impact's 3Play switcher. There is always some loss of quality anytime you throw another box and set of cables between the display and source, but it's not bad at all. Make sure you get something that switches the audio with the video.

    You should be able to find a cheap switcher for that. This thing should do the trick (link below). Don't worry about quality...if that's a concern, you should be upgrading to component connections or at least S-video.
