This has been making the rounds on Blu-ray forums, AVSforum and Highdef Digest forums....
From anonymous poster using a public internet machine:
"Hello,
I'm happy to announce that tomorrow 10AM PST Warner will issue a press release announcing they are going Blu-ray exclusive. I know many of you will not believe me and think this is simply a joke (which I dont blame you for) but I ask you one thing :
-Wait till tomorrow and see what happens. If the announcement doesn't come through, you can blame me all you want and ban me from the site.
Again I'm going to expect alot of doubful comments (or maybe some not nice ones ) coming but I'm fine with it. I'm some one you guys already know (and perhaps you have read my posts before ).
As for those folks willing to have a bit more faith in me, let me give you some insights for tomorrow's announcement :
-Tomorrow Warner will announce going Blu-ray exclusive. However they will honor their commitment to HD DVD (unlike Paramount to Blu-ray) and release all the titles that were promised this year. Starting 2008, Warner will release only in Blu-ray Disc format.
-Waner will release all the previously exclusive HD DVD titles on Blu-ray by end of Q2 2008.
-The first Blu-ray live title (including PiP) from warner will release early 2008.
-As for their joint promotion with Toshiba regarding bundling 300 with 3rd generation Blu-ray players, the offer will expire December 2007.
-New Line will also go Blu-ray exclusive starting 2008 (Hairspray hint anyone?)
-One big catalogue title will be released exclusive on Blu-ray by Q2 2008. I believe Peter Jackson has something to do with that title
Tomorrow 10AM Pacific Time. For those of you who will think I'm not telling the truth or being stupid, I respect that opinion. But coming tomorrow when Warner announces exclusivity, all of you have to send me a Blu-ray movie as a bonus ."
Follow Ups:
Since there is no date. Tomorrow could always be the next day. He could send this POS August 12, 2028 and just say "Well, it's not tomorrow yet, is it?". That's why it does not say "September 29, 2007 at 10 AM Warners will...Typical hoax, glad you caught it.
Apparently started by some loser on the AVS forum who decided to be a troll.

since tomorrow will come around TOMORROW. GET IT?? It is not true, it is just unfounded, or unproveable. That is not the same as false. Take a logic course (even 101 will be a help).
since the person posted the message yesterday and was referring to today when he posted it, your point is moot.

and as anyone who does not have a psychological problem that prevents them from EVER admitting they are mistaken would admit,
"Tomorrow ain't here yet".
You need a doctor, dude. You are wrong, and not man enough to admit it.
...according to you that statement is accurate indefinitely, as long as I have a doctor's appointment before I die?
No one can accuse you of being logical.
The original hoax had a specific day it was posted, and therefore "tomorrow" referred to a specific day. How you misinterpreted that is almost as stupid as people who think that storage capacity on HD media doesn't matter.

I don't leak confidential info myself, because I figure "what goes around, comes around", but if I were inclined to do so, I might also post from anonymously from a public place where my IP address could not be traced back to me. So that part of the posting rings true to me.
What motive could Warner have to make such a move? Getting paid off works both ways ;-)
A true BD-Live (aka "Profile 2.0") title for early 2008? Chances are just about nil, because aside from announced but unreleased players from LG and Samsung, there's nothing which even claims to support the spec yet. You can get picture-in-picture with Blu-Ray Profile 1.0 by including a complete 2nd video track, and that's exactly what Pixar apparently is doing with "Cars". This is a no-no because you potentially wind up with 50 gigabyte disks and STILL get lossy audio + video. Much much better to do this properly under Blu-Ray Profile 1.1, I think.
Overall, who knows? Wait until tomorrow like the message says, and see if anything happens, I guess.
Guess I got fooled ;-)[edit] Never mind: Times on that board are GMT, so this alleged announcement is still in the future.
Let the suspense build. :)
I'm actually surprised at the extremely large discussion this highly probable hoax is getting. OTOH, the Paramount decision was preceded by largely discounted internet rumors....

I didn't hear any rumors about Paramount before it happened. People in the know kept that very close to their chest. There WAS a rumor, I believe spread by a BD insider, that Weinstein was about to go neutral. Of course, there was the ever present rumor of Universal going neutral. :-)
I stopped listening to rumors spread by Blu-ray folks.

Looking forward to Oldboy and several other key blu-ray titles coming over the next couple months.
