Are you certain that the Samsung has an audio pass-through capability? Likely it does, but will it pass along an analog signal? Typically, LCD & plasmas will pass a 2-channel digital signal.

well i haven't hook it up yet. i'm waiting for hdmi cable and it's in mail.
but i'm almost certain it will do DAC as it has the numerous HDMI inputs and a pair of RCA(analog) outputs. so the DAC conversion will take place inside TV, not anywhere else. but as i said in the original post, i'd like to know if this DAC inside TV is at least passable, if not acceptable to audiophiles.
thanks
I don't own a PS3, so I assume it has no analog-out?
Can you confirm with Samsung that the analog-out is able to provide DAC from anything other than tv's internal digital tuner? Better to know now.
Whether the end results, if it all works, is acceptable to audiophiles is difficult to answer. If anyone has set up what you propose, perhaps they can talk about their results.
