I just purchased a panasonic bdp 55 and the manual says that using the hdmi audio negates or may adversely impact the analog 5.1 or 7.1 audio output. I had planned to send the hdmi to the tv for when I would just listen to the tv (and not bother with the pre-pro etc.), but wanted to use the analog 5.1 out to go to my pre-pro, which does not have hdmi. According to the manual, this will not work. Any advice on being able to run both without having to turn off the hdmi audio each time I want to use the pre-pro. Having to go thru the menus to make the fix each time may prove daunting for family members when I am not there.

With most decent souces you can scroll between the audio options via the remote without having to resort to onscreen menus - I'd be surprised if the option isn't there on the BD-55's remote as the main selling point of this player is the analogue outputs for those of us who don't have HDMI capable processors/amps.

I have a BDP55 on order. I'm planning on sending the audio output to a receiver via the coax cable and the HDMI to the TV. Will that work for you........and me?
Coax won't carry the higher rez Blu-ray codecs to the reciever, just DD or DTS. :0(
